The Wapsi River Environmental Education Center of the Scott County Conservation Board is seeking qualified individuals to serve as a temporary AmeriCorps 4-H Environmental Education Members.

The half-time position requires the successful completion of at least 900 hours of service by term end (6 months, approximately 30-40 hours weekly). Saturday, April 13, 2019 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Head out to the Wapsi River Center for a fun afternoon of learning, painting, and hot cocoa!  We will talk about our box turtles and then enjoy complimentary hot cocoa while making a turtle related painting with step-by-step instructions!  This program is family friendly.  $5 per canvas. Please call to register, space is limited.

Man and woman are a 2 person team and play 9 holes with an 8" cup! in an alternate shot format and scored using a modified stable ford scoring system. The event is flighted by the number of teams signed up each night. Men play from the white tees and women play from the red tees. Cost (subject to change) is $55.00 per couple and includes green fee, cart fee, prizes and a cookout after play. Scott County Park Pool is proud to be an American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Provider. The Learn-to-Swim program is unique compared to other learn to swim programs. Classes are offered for children ages 3 years old and up. Students progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in the one level before then advancing to the next.

Sessions are offered from June-July for Group Lessons, Private Lessons, Lifeguarding Certification and a WSI Instructor Class. Register online now or in person starting April 13th at the Scott County Park Entry Station.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will relax the fishing regulations at Lake of the Hills, Railroad Lake, Lambach Lake and Bluegrass Lake at West Lake Park starting April 1st to allow anglers to more freely harvest fish before the lakes’ water levels are lowered this summer. Anglers with a valid sport fishing license may harvest all sizes and unlimited quantities of any species of fish from West Lake Park lakes. Any number of poles will be allowed, but anglers must stay in site of these lines at all times.
