Lake Restoration Notice:

The Beach and Boathouse at West Lake Park are closed for the season. We look forward to re-opening these activities in 2021 after completing the lake restoration project.

All other activities will remain open, including the campgrounds, shelters, cabins, disc golf course and trails.

West Lake Park

West Lake Park.

West Lake Park is a 620 acre facility offering four lakes for fishing and/or swimming. A boat dock, parking lot, handicap fishing dock, beach area, and paddle boat rentals are available for the water enthusiast. For the landlubbers - the park offers picnic facilities, playground areas, modern restrooms and two campground areas with electrical, water, and/or sewer hook-ups. Both camping areas have handicap accessible comfort stations.

Hunter education is a mandatory program that is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, and the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws, and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.

Iowa law requires that anyone born after January 1, 1972 must be certified in hunter education before they are eligible to purchase an Iowa hunting

Join the Wapsi River Team and explore the Wapsipinicon River by kayak, to celebrate and honor our sacred waters. Participants must be 16 years of age and accompanied by an adult. We will meet at Sherman Park and please consider bringing the following items: sunscreen, insect repellant, comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, water bottle, waterproof container with snacks/lunch. Kayaks, paddles, and PFDs are limited to the first 12 people so call to register a seat at (563)328-3286. Reminder- this program is determined by weather and site conditions, weight capacity loads are 250-300 lbs./solo and 425-475 lbs./tandem.

Come join in the fun, this event features an 8" cup! Four person teams are flighted by number of teams signed up for the event.  Men will play from the blue tees and women play from green tees. Cost (subject to change) is $55.00 per person and includes green fee, cart fee, and prizes.  This is the last four person best shots of the season so hurry and sign up so you don't miss out on the fun!

Man and woman are a 2 person team and play 9 holes with an 8" cup in an alternate shot format and scored using a modified stable ford scoring system. The event is flighted by the number of teams signed up each night. Men play from the white tees and women play from the red tees. Cost (subject to change) is $55.00 per couple and includes green fee, cart fee, prizes and a cookout after play. This is intended to be a fun night and beginners are encouraged to participate.  This is the last couples outing and your last chance to play an 8" cup, be sure to get signed up!

Enjoy 1800’s folk songs by “Stacy Webster & Friends,” traditional, ragtime and jazz songs from 1910 to 1940 by “The River City 6”, and 1940-60s old time country by “Fifth of Country.”

Admission is $6.00 adults, $3.00 kids, under 5 free.

Food vendor, or bring a picnic lunch & lawn chairs. Rain or Shine. If rain, all music will be in Olde St. Ann’s Church on the grounds.

This fun class blends nature and art! This session the theme will be squirrels! Participants will get to take a short nature hike (weather dependant) and get to enjoy some lemonade or hot cocoa while creating your own painting with step-by-step instructions. This program is suitable for all ages, geared towards grades 1-5. Great for after school fun or even homeschoolers! $5/canvas (pay at program). Space is limited—please call to register.
