Fugitive Dust

What is fugitive dust?

Fugitive dust is created when certain materials are disturbed and small, solid particles are released into the air in quantities sufficient to cause a nuisance. Common sources of fugitive dust are unpaved roads, agricultural tilling, and heavy construction activities.

What can I do?

Call the Scott County Health Department at 563-326-8618 or the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Field Office #6 at 319-653-2135

Is there a fee for the Illegal Burning service/program?

There is no fee for filing a complaint or for information.
