On Friday, November 9th at 0900, the Scott County Sheriff's Office will hold a Swearing In Ceremony in the Sheriff's Office Conference Room on the second floor of the Scott County Courthouse.  Curt Wilson, Christopher Laye, Douglass Adams and Jonathon Johnson have been hired as the newest deputy sheriffs for Scott County.

Curt Wilson grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa and graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1990.  Curt has been a finished carpenter for the past 29 years working 18 years for Eric Stock Construction and self-employed 11 years with Glurt Construction LLC.  Curt served as a reserve deputy with the Scott County Sheriff's Office since 2008 where he has volunteered over 4,500 hours in Scott County. Curt served on the Special Response Team (SRT), on the Honor Guard and was vice president of the Reserve Unit for 5 years. Curt is the son of Thom and Nancy Wilson, has been married to his wife Gloria for 15 years and has a son Andrew, 10 years old.

Christopher Laye was born and raised in Maryland, graduated from Smithsburg High School in 1988, joined the US Army in September 1990 and retired from the US Army in July 2015. Christopher served stateside tours in Colorado, Maryland, Missouri and Hawaii and overseas tours in Germany, Korea, and two combat tours in Iraq.  Chris served as a combat engineer demolitions expert for 4 years and a military police officer for 21 years.  Chris graduated from the American Military University with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in 2012, a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice in 2016 with Honors, and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Public Administration with a Concentration in Organizational Management and a Certificate in Executive Law Enforcement Leadership. Throughout his career, Chris received many awards, medals and commendations including the Bronze Star Medal. Chris has served as a police officer in Lebanon Missouri since January 2016 and received specialized law enforcement trainings and leadership trainings.  Chris and his wife Christy have been together since 2009. Christy is also a veteran and continues to serve veterans as an orthopedic nurse practitioner at the Iowa City VA Hospital.

Dougalss Adams grew up in Geneseo, Illinois and went on to Western Illinois University where he graduated in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a minor in psychology. Since graduation, Doug has worked for several departments as a corrections officer, full-time police officer and part-time police officer. In Doug's spare time he enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping.  Doug resides in Eldridge, Iowa with his wife Leanne and dog Harley.

Jonathon Johnson is from Davenport and graduated from Davenport Central High School in 2007.  He graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2011 with an associate of arts degree in criminal justice - liberal arts. Jonathon moved to Las Vegas and worked as a correctional officer with the Nevada Department of Corrections before working as a deputy sheriff with the Nye County Sheriff's Office in Nevada. In 2018 Jonathon relocated back to Iowa and has been working as a police officer with the University Heights Police Department since that time, becoming Iowa certified on November 7, 2018. Jonathon and his fiancé have a 1 year old daughter and are expecting another daughter in March. In Jonathon's spare time he likes to travel, spend time with family and friends and is involved with youth mentorship programs.
