Community Restoration Program

The Community Restoration program was started in 2004 by Sheriff Conard and designed to involve low risk, minimum security inmates sentenced to county jail time to perform work details outside the secure perimeters of the jail facility. The participants provide assistance to cities and towns within Scott County, Statewide agencies, and other non-profit organizations.

Corrections Officers provide direction, practical training, and safety instructions on the various work details that each will be involved in. Along with outside duties, the Community Restoration workers can assist with duties inside the jail facility, such as floor upkeep, painting, and general facility cleanup.

Other smaller programs within Community Restoration include the Garden Project, providing produce for jail inmate and staff consumption and the Bicycle Restoration project which refurbishes bikes for approved inmates upon their release and The Children's Christmas bike give away at the Friendly House and other non-profit organizations.
