Planning & Development

Planning and Development is responsible for the current and future land uses in all unincorporated areas of Scott County.

The County, through the adoption of a comprehensive development plan and enforcement of the county's zoning, building code, subdivision and floodplain development ordinances, is able to regulate all non-ag land uses in the unincorporated areas.

Through an intergovernmental 28E agreement the department also issues building permits for the Cities of Dixon, Donahue, LeClaire, McCausland, Panorama Park, and Riverdale.

Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 8:00am to 12:00pm

Volunteers will have the chance to contribute to one of the largest water quality databases in Iowa to monitor trends in the health of Scott County's watersheds.

We will train volunteers to use lab equipment to test for pH, nitrogen, chloride, and phosphorus, among other parameters.

NEW this summer, volunteers will also record insects and other wildlife living in the watersheds!

No experience required, so come out and be a citizen scientist for a day!
