What is it? How do I get it?

Virus - direct contact (may be sexually transmitted - oral, vaginal or anal)

Symptoms:

  • Growths on or near sex organs
  • Usually not painful
  • May take up to 2 years to grow after infected

What happens if not treated?

  • Stays in your body forever once you are infected
  • WOMEN - who have warts should have a pap smear yearly
  • *Certain types of warts cause cervical cancer

How can I protect myself?

  • Know symptoms - LOOK for symptoms
  • DON'T have sex if you have symptoms
  • Use a condom - EVERY TIME YOU HAVE SEX

What to do:

  • Tell your partners if you have warts
  • Don't have sex until you've seen your Doctor and are treated
