Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Scott County Library System's Project Directors, manages the activities for a two year IMLS grant funded project: the Scott County Community Memory Project. Work will involve planning and promoting programs, assisting the public with digitization and digital conversion, creating metadata, and uploading digital items and metadata to a digital collection.

Job Responsibilities

Plan and promote scanning days in various rural Scott County communities.

Assist members of the public during scanning days and at one-on-one appointments using scanning equipment, digital conversion equipment and accompanying software.

Explain and manage digital agreement forms, keeping careful records.

Conduct oral history interviews.

Create metadata using the Dublin Core schema, following library templates.

Manage digital files and document progress.

Create a digital collection on archive.org.

Keep statistics necessary for grant reporting.

Work closely with library staff to fulfill the requirements of the IMLS grant.

Other duties that occur relevant to the project's scope.

Standards for Initial Consideration

Education:

High school diploma or GED required

Work Experience:

Previous library experience and customer service experience desired.

Essential Skills:

Ability to provide high quality customer service to patrons of all ages.

Ability to operate office equipment.

Proficiency with computers.

Ability to effectively convey information to members of the public and other members of the library team.

Ability to keep accurate records.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete detail oriented tasks.

Supplemental Information

This is a temporary part-time position for the two year duration of the grant and will average 6 hours per week. No benefits are provided for this position.

Reports to: Project Directors

Works with: Scott County Library staff, community leaders, the public

Physical/Environmental Conditions:
Primarily indoor office work. Physical activities required are: lifting, carrying, stooping, pushing, pulling and standing. Schedule varies and includes days, nights and weekends.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
