Test/Treat:

What is it? How do I get it?

Virus - direct contact (may be sexually transmitted - oral , vaginal or rectal)

Symptoms:

  • Vary greatly - small, painful bumps and/or blisters
  • Itchy
  • Lesions usually appear 2-12 days after infected
  • Culture most accurate to diagnose

What happens if not treated?

  • Stays in your body forever once you are infected
  • Skin infections if not kept clean

How can I protect myself?

  • Know symptoms - LOOK for symptoms
  • DON'T have sex if you have symptoms
  • Get tested if you have symptoms
  • Use a condom - EVERY TIME YOU HAVE SEX

What to do:

  • Tell your partners if you have Herpes
  • Don't have sex until you call for your results
  • ALWAYS use a condom
