What is it? How do I get it?

Bacteria - sexually transmitted (oral, vaginal or rectal) *Major cause of NGU,MPC or PID.

Symptoms:

  • MEN - Clear to slightly cloudy discharge
  • itching or burning in tube of penis
  • WOMEN - Abnormal bleeding or discharge, abdominal pain, itching or burning*Very Possible - NO symptoms

What happens if not treated?

  • Sterility in men
  • Infertility in women
  • PID in women
  • Miscarriage - premature labor and delivery
  • Lung & eye infections in newborn babies

How can I protect myself?

  • Know symptoms - LOOK for symptoms
  • DON'T have sex if you have symptoms
  • Get tested if you have symptoms
  • Use a condom - EVERY TIME YOU HAVE SEX

What to do:

  • Take all medicine as directed
  • Tell your partners if you have chlamydia
  • Don't have sex until you call for your results and partners are treated
