2018’s theme is: “It's a Generation Thing!” The world is constantly changing. Or is it? Each week we will be taking a look at how things change or stay the same between generations.
Week 1: Animal Planet, June 11-15.
Learn about the animal world. How species are related, evolve and what their future looks to be. Field trip to Niabi Zoo. Our friends and their animals from "Down by the Creek" animal sanctuary will visit us. Lots of animal related games and crafts, including a play with finger puppets!
Week 2: Imagine Week, June 18-22.
Ever want to be a super hero? A Pirate? Imagine you are someone different each day including a Super Hero on Monday, Cowboy/Cowgirl on Tuesday, Farmer on Wednesday, Pirate on Thursday and Hippy on Friday! Field trip to John Deere Pavilion Discovery Center.
Week 3: Rivers, Lakes & Streams Week, June 25-29.
Visit the Mississippi River Eco Tourism Center and ride a 25 person pontoon in the Mississippi River back waters, pond study & Eco Center. Go fishing & canoeing at Pride Lake!
Week 4: County Fair Week, July 9-13.
Make & play carnival games of skill and luck. Sign up for a pie eating or watermelon seed spitting contest! Eat cotton candy or a chocolate dipped banana on a stick! Visit the Clinton County Fair.
Week 5: Early American Sports Week, July 16-20.
Travel to Li’l Mississippi Golf to play mini golf & water wars. Glynn’s Creek Golf Course for a golf lesson. Play croquet, badminton, horseshoes, Native American and early pioneer games.
Week 6: Nature Week, July 23-27.
Enjoy learning about the mysteries of Nature! Visit the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center near Dixon, IA on Thursday July 26 and stay overnight in the bunkhouse. Evening meal at the Wapsi Center & breakfast included. Parents are welcome to attend evening meal and/or stay overnight.
Week 7: Weird Science Week, July 30 – Aug 3.
Visit the Putnam Museum’s interactive Science Center on Wednesday. Learn about strange weather from a local Meteorologist. Launch a 50 foot solar bag and have fun with science crafts and games.
Week 8: Time Travelers Week, Aug 6-10.
Build a “time traveling” machine to go back in time as an early cave dweller by visiting the Maquoketa Caves. Then learn what living in a log cabin on the prairie may have been like and go to school in a one-room school house. We will also be changing our time machine date to the future to check out new inventions.
