Election Day

Election Day may pose questions for regular and first time voters alike. Information found in these pages may help answer your questions about Election Day in Scott County.

Voting on Election Day:

  1. On Election Day, go to your polling place.
  2. Election officials are here to help you.
  3. Begin at the sign-in table or election official station.
    • Provide your first and last name (at electronic poll book locations, you can scan voter registration card or Iowa driver's license) ID is not required by law if pre-registered.
    • If you are pre-registered, your name will be listed on the voter rolls.
    • If your name is not listed, you will need to register [ Election Day registration rules ]
    • Complete, sign and return documentation to the election official.
  4. You will be given a ballot. [ See sample ballots ]
  5. Take ballot to the optical scan machine.
    • Insert ballot into machine.
    • If there is a problem with your ballot, it will be ejected. An election official will assist you.
    • A successful ballot will be accepted by the machine.
  6. You're done.
    • Pick up your complimentary "I Voted" sticker.
    • Thank you for voting.

Please don't hesitate to ask an election official for help or assistance. They are there to help you. If you are not sure you are pre-registered to vote, bring your driver's license, or a paycheck, utility bill or government document that includes your name and street address.
