Medical Services


Iowa Code 50.15 states: "The jail administrator shall establish a written policy and procedure to assure inmates the opportunity to receive necessary medical attention for illness and injury and necessary dental care."
Scott County Jail provides medical services to all inmates. An examination room is located in the main jail.
The Community Health Center has staffed the jail with one full-time doctor, one full-time nurse, and two part-time nurses. Medical staff is on duty Monday through Friday 0800 to 1700 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
Sick call to see the doctor is conducted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Nursing staff is provided on weekends and holidays. One full-time correctional officer is assigned to transport sick call inmates and escort the nurse during medication passing.
