Iowa Code 50.14(2) states: "Inmates held in excess of 24 hours shall be provided sanitary bedding and linens, sufficient to ensure comfort under existing temperature conditions."

Jail Laundry is staff by one full-time employee, Monday through Friday with two inmate workers assistants. The Jail Laundry Officer is responsible, but not limited to, laundry exchange, cleaning, maintaining machinery, sewing and product control.

The following laundry items are issued to all inmates at the time of jail placement with exceptions for inmates under suicide watch: uniform, undergarments, socks, towel, hand towel, bed sheet, pillowcase, and blanket. Hygiene bag consisting of bar soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, and inmate rulebook. Inmates with special consideration are given modified laundry items.

Laundry items (uniform, personals, and bedding) are exchanged on a scheduled basis. The laundry exchange schedule is as follows:

At the Tremont Annex Facility, each bay is scheduled for uniform and personals exchange twice a week with the exception of the worker bay which is done on a daily basis.

The quantity of laundry used by inmates may vary. The list below is a snapshot of what each floor could look like in a given day.
