Scott County voters approved CJAAC's jail facilities solution at the November 2, 2004 general election. 58% voter support allowed the project to begin in a timely fashion.

The Scott County Public Safety Authority approve architectural and transition assistance contracts with the local architectural firm of Larrison and Associates and the jail consulting firm of Voorhis Associates.

Design work is complete. The project is currently under construction and is nearing completion of Phase 1 of construction. At the conclusion of Phase 1, the Sheriff’s Office will move the jail operation to the new buildings, making way for the renovation of the existing building during Phase 2. The entire project should be completed by the summer of 2008.
