911 Dispatch Center


The Scott County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center is one of three Primary PSAP’s (Public Safety Answering Points) located within Scott County. Calls for emergency service are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The center provides dispatch services for the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Scott County Conservation, 8 local Police Departments, 13 Fire Departments, Buffalo Ambulance Service, the Sheriff’s Office Reserves Unit, and Scott County Emergency Management.
The Communications Center is staffed by 11 full-time Public Safety Dispatchers (including 3 Lead Dispatchers), one Warrant Clerk, and one Communications Center Supervisor. The center is equipped with an 800 mhz trunked radio system, AVL (Automated Vehicle Locator), CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch), and various other technology to provide professional and efficient services to the community which it serves.
All Communications personnel are certified in IOWA (Iowa On-line Warrants and Articles), NCIC ( National Crime Information Center) and in CPR. In addition all personnel are certified in EMD by the National Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch and provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in need of medical assistance.
The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center answers approximately 3400 emergency and non-emergency telephone calls on 911, wireless 911, and seven-digit lines, handles approximately 55 EMD calls, completes approximately 35,000 CAD transactions, enters approximately 190 warrants and validates approximately 200 warrants on a monthly basis.
