About the Sheriff

Dennis Conard
Scott County Sheriff
Sheriff Dennis Conard resides in Bettendorf, Iowa with his wife Vicki. They have four children and four grandchildren.
Denny is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, has a bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement from St. Ambrose College and has taken master's level courses at the University of Virginia, Marycrest College and Western Illinois University.
Denny began his law enforcement career with Scott County Sheriff's Office in 1973 as a Reserve member. While with the Sheriff's Office he has worked in or supervised all aspects of officer operations.
Major goals Sheriff Conard has implemented and supervised while in office are
- Community Policing concepts within the Sheriff's Office
- Contract Policing with local communities and Scott Community College
- A new report writing system
- Construction and remodel of a 365 bed direct supervision jail
- Implementation of inmate programming at the Scott County Jail
- Housing of federal prisoners
Sheriff Conard has been Scott County Sheriff since 2001.
