School Bus Accident

UPDATE: March 27, 2017

As a result of investigations the northbound bus driver, Stanley Arthur Ray (68YOA) was cited for Fail to yield upon entering through highway as a result of March 22nd bus collision in rural Scott County. After Mr. Ray halted at the stop sign at the intersection of 140th Avenue and 290th Street he then proceeded into the rural intersection, colliding with a westbound bus.

The investigation is closed.

On March 22, 2017 at approximately 3:35 pm Scott County Deputies were dispatched to a two school bus accident at the intersection of 140th Avenue and 290th Street (St Ann’s Road) Long Grove. Scott County Deputies, Long Grove Fire, Donahue Fire and Medic Ambulance all responded to the scene.

A North Scott School Bus operated by Stanley Arthur Ray (67YOA) was stopped at the stop sign for 290th Street on 140th Avenue. The second North Scott School Bus operated by Hope Ann Schroeder (63YOA) was traveling west bound on 290th Street. Both buses were occupied with children.

As Schroeder was traveling west bound on 290th Street, Ray left the stop sign and started traveling north across 290th Street. The two buses collided causing non-functional damage.

Stanley Arthur Ray was transported by Medic to Trinity Bettendorf Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. One child was treated for minor injuries on scene and released to the parents. No other injuries were sustained and all children were released to their parents.

The accident is under investigation.
