PREVIOUS NOTICE:

A burn ban for Scott County was granted effective Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 5:00 PM, in conjunction with the Scott County Fire Chief’s Association and the Scott County Emergency Management Agency.

With the drying conditions, the harvest operations underway and the lack of significant rainfall in the forecast, the risk of field and vegetation fires is running very high. This ban will remain in place until such time that the risk is reduced and we request the ban to be lifted.

Attached is a copy of the proclamation from the State Fire Marshall’s Office and the section of the Code of Iowa that pertains to the ban. There are some exceptions to the ban that are outlined in the Code section.

While this ban does not remove all of the fire risks associated with this time of year and with harvest, it does help to mitigate some potential fire risks.
