HIV Testing Program
What types of services are offered through the Scott County Health Department HIV Testing Program?
- The HIV Antibody Testing Program includes confidential pre and posttest counseling and oral swab testing for the HIV antibody for all Iowa residents that meet Iowa Department of Public Health guidelines.
- A new Rapid HIV test is now available. (These new tests are available for residents with specific risks and those risks can only be determined during the pretest counseling session.)
- A $10 donation will be requested at the time of visit to the STD/HIV clinic.
When can I get an HIV Test done at the Health Department?
Walk-in pretest or posttest counseling and testing are available on:
- Tuesdays 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
- Fridays 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Walk-in posttest counseling is also available:
- Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
How long after a test is done does it take to get results back?
It takes 7 to 10 working days to get HIV test results back for the oral swab test.
What happens if my test is positive?
For positive tests, counseling and referral services are available as well as partner notification services.
