Sexually Transmitted Disease Program
Conditions for Clinic Use
The following situations are not appropriate for this clinic setting:
- Employment or insurance requirements
- Requesting a pap smear
- Requesting a pregnancy test
- International travel requirements
- Needle stick/blood exposure
- Second opinion
- No risk behavior ("just because") or it has been more
than six months since the last act of unprotected sex
- Seeking treatment for Herpes or Genital Warts
- Adoption requirements
- Sports Requirements
- Rape/sexual assault/sexual abuse
- Pregnant - 12 weeks or more
- Not an Iowa (HIV testing) or Scott County (STD testing) resident
These patients will not be treated at the Scott County Health Department
but will be referred to the health care provider of their choice
or may be given a medical referral sheet to an appropriate health
care provider.
