Caring Across Cultures: Achieving Culture Competence in Health Programs at School
Research has documented that ethnic and racial minorities are less likely to have access to health care, more likely to experience health problems, and frequently unable to get the best help available from the health care system. School-based health programs can assist children and their families overcome cultural barriers to good health and good health care by helping uninsured families to get health insurance, supporting healthy behaviors at school and home, and identifying and treating health problems. This website provides links to resources intended to help health professionals and their school colleagues consider and respond to the impacts of cultural differences on health and health care.
