Re: 2002-2003 School and Child Care Immunization Audit Results
The Iowa Department of Public Health released the most recent childhood immunization audit report for the 2002 – 2003 school year. Scott County has demonstrated higher compliance rates than any other large county in the State.
The Scott County Health Department wants to salute and thank the many physicians, clinics, nurses, and most of all the parents, who have worked so hard to protect the health of children and the community.
Audits performed in K-12 Schools 100% compliance
Audits performed in Kindergarten 100% compliance
Audits performed in Special Education programs 100% compliance
Audits performed in Head Start program 100% compliance
Audits performed in Day Care Centers 98.65% compliance
The Scott County Health Department vaccination audit counts children who have met the minimum immunization requirements of the Iowa Administrative Code. The Iowa Department of Public Health requires that children attending school in Iowa be vaccinated to prevent infectious and potentially serious diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, polio, pertussis, diphtheria, tetanus and hepatitis B. (Exclusions to these rules are permitted. Applicants approved for medical or religious exemptions must have a valid Iowa Department of Public Health Certificate of Immunization Exemption). Local boards of health are charged with the responsibility of insuring compliance with the Iowa Administrative Code on immunization requirements.
The Scott County Health Department provides vaccinations to Scott County children who are eligible for the Vaccine For Children (VFC) program. VFC provides vaccine for eligible children from birth through 18 years of age. Children need 80% of their vaccinations in the first two years of life to protect them against disease, disability, and possible death.
Childhood immunizations are offered at the Scott County Health Department on Wednesdays by appointment from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM. Walk-ins are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
