Quality Management Committee (QMC)
The Scott County Quality Management Committee was formed in October, 1997 in an effort to promote system deliveryof quality patient prehospital care in Scott County. We had several initial brainstorming sessions before we settled on 3 distinct subcommittees, which are as follows:
- Education, Training and Equipment -chaired by Kevin
Brix of Long Grove Fire. This committee has been instrumental
in fairly identifying needs of all agencies via a Needs
Assessment survey, following which grant funding is applied
for. Examples of grant funding obtained by this committee
include the county wide adult and pediatric spinal immobilization
system ($55K), notebook computer/LCD projector/digital camera/scanner
to develop presentations to promote education, development
of software and purchase of hardware to develop a county-wide
documentation program for transporting agencies, and eventually,
nontransport agencies, purchase of defibrillators, fax machines,
suction units, etc., etc. and the list goes on and on!
- Communications -chaired by Larry Plett from Blue
Grass who constantly review radio issues, tower placements
etc.
- Documentation -chaired by Jeff Green of Bettendorf
Fire; currently working to implement a county wide patient
refusal documentation form.
The general Quality Management group meets on a quarterly
basis at the Bicentennial Building, 5th floor. Those meetings
are scheduled on the second Wednesdays of January, April,
July, and October.
