Levels of Assistance
Precise standards of assistance are not generally practical due to the following variables:
- The need may be temporary or long term.
- Needs may include one or several of the above categories.
- Need may be partially met by family members.
- Amount needed to meet needs will vary according to community
resources, but the following limitations shall apply:
- Expenditures shall not exceed the following amounts without a Director's Exception:
a. For rent, utilities and food:

2. Clients who have been receiving regular income but have not made regular payments toward rent and/or utilities shall have assistance denied unless special circumstances merit a Director's Exception.
3. Clients who fail to live within their means on a regular basis may be required to receive budget counseling as a condition of assistance. In addition, protective payee status for individuals' categorical assistance may be required if they consistently fail to live within their means and need general assistance on a regular basis.
