Scott County Jail and CourthouseNewSolution Approved

Scott County voters approved CJAAC's jail facilities solution at the November 2, 2004 general election. 58% voter support will allow the project to begin in a timely fashion.

The Scott County Public Safety Authority will approve architectural and transition assistance contracts with CJAAC's consultant team of the local architectural firm of Larrison and Associates and the jail consulting firm of Voorhis Associates at their November 9, 2004 meeting. It will take approximately 8-9 months of design work to complete the construction documents. It is anticipated that the project will be bid out in the fall of 2005 with a bond sale to be held after the lowest responsible bidders have been selected as required by Iowa law. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2005 with a fall 2007 completion date.

The Scott County Board of Supervisors appreciates the support of the community in developing this solution to the County's jail capacity problem. The in-facility programs which will be implemented in the new, expanded facility will reduce the overall recidivism rate and enhance the public safety of the entire Scott County community.

Citizens will be able to watch the construction as it occurs via Webcams from this Website.
