The Platroom houses the property records for Scott County as described
by Chapter 331.511 of the Iowa Code. This information is provided
in the form of plat books (map of the property), transfer books
(history of all transfers of a property), and public-access computer
terminals which provide a variety of property information. Platroom
staff also review legal descriptions on transfer documents and deeds
before they are recorded to insure accuracy, transfer ownership
on tax parcels within the City of Davenport (County Assessor transfers
County properties), and do research on ownership or legal descriptions
when there is a problem. As new parcels and subdivisions are recorded,
they are drawn in the plat books by the Platroom Draftsperson.
Many
professionals visit the platroom everyday to do research, including
lawyers, abstractors, realtors, appraisers, surveyors, and engineers.
However, probably the largest percentage of customers in the plat
room is the public. The platroom staff work closely with the County
and City Assessors, the County Recorder, and the County Treasurer
in processing deeds and transfering properties.
