Mike Walton was an Assistant Scott County Attorney for nineteen years before being appointed County Attorney in August 2007. He has prosecuted all levels of crimes from class A felonies to simple misdemeanor and defended Scott County in civil litigation. Mike graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business from Winona State University in 1984. He obtained his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in 1987.
Recent initiatives of the Office include converting assistant county attorneys from part time to full time, reducing the operating budget, increasing the effectiveness of criminal prosecutions, enhancing victim services and improving relationships with other Scott County departments and local agencies.
