Scott County Budget

Scott County has an annual budget of over 50 million dollars. Property tax is the largest source of funding for the county.

Scott County is known for its fiscal responsibility. While ranking third in population, Scott County ranks the lowest among the eight largest metropolitan Iowa counties in the urban area and second lowest among the eight largest metropolitan Iowa counties in the rural areas tax levy rate amount. Additionaly Scott County has the third lowest county property tax amount per capita of all ninety-nine Iowa counties and is 29% below the statewide average.
